WALT Books
At a recent cluster meeting we discussed ways of displaying, and more importantly, referring to, our Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.
Whilst many of our classrooms have them, they are at risk of being covered up and are often rubbed off our whiteboards after the unit has finished which makes referring back very difficult for our students. Renee was able to come to our rescue with the aid of her WALT (What are we learning today) books, and has provided this post to tell us more about them.

Welcome to the Numeracy Cluster meeting for term one. As you know the focus today is focussing on those students off the NFA at both ends. Below is a list of links that you will rotate through during the PLT. We hope they are of use for you and your class. This post is always available for you to come back to for the links, and your numeracy leader will also email them to you.

Sharing & Student reflection
Thanks to everyone for attending our last Numeracy leaders meeting at WPS. We shared some great resources to use for student reflection and Dave was willingly volunteered to put together this blog post. Thanks Dave for contributing and sharing this with us.
Hi everyone,
After searching high and low for the original email/file i was unable to locate the sharing cards.
The main use for the cards was to prompt individual students when it was their turn for sharing. Other teachers have certain students sharing every day, but i prefer to roam and give a student a card based on what i observe. I believe that sharing doesn't always have to happen at the end of a lesson. I often gather kids around a students table to listen to their strategy. As we all know students need to hear what their peers are saying as well as their teacher.
Some sharing/reflection cards i've used to great effect are:
Today I discovered.......
Today I explored...........
Today for the first time.............
I want to know more about...............
I feel good about.............
I am concerned about..............
I helped my group.....................
I will continue my search for the originals... i promise
Dave
While Dave continues to hunt for his reflection cards, here is a link to the cards Matt showed to keep you entertained! Click HERE to go the Dropbox file (or check your dropbox folder if you've installed it). Well done to all those who have installed dropbox and joined our shared folder! Remember if you have any questions or problems, just email Matt.
So how do your students share/ reflect on their work? Leave a comment below on what works or doesn't for you.

Our next meeting is coming up on the 5th September at Chisholm St starting at 3:45. To give us a head start and a chance map out future meetings we would like you to complete the below questionnaire (it's really quick!). This will allow us to understand what everyone has to offer and what topics we can cover.
It's also an opportunity for us to set up some communication lines particularly in regards to helping with the ICT aspects so we can get everyone contributing to the blog and sharing our resources.

Welcome!
Welcome to the brand spanking new Wangaratta Numeracy leaders blog 'Numeracy in Wangaratta'. The aim of this site is to allow everyone to contribute and share the learning experiences and resources they are using in schools around Wangaratta (and further afield if word catches on...).
The site can be used as a hub for resources to use with planning, student activities, and assessment. It's also an avenue for generating discussion, and seeking advice through the comments function.
Further explanation and instruction on how to use the blog will be provided at our next get together on the 5th September. But for now have a quick look through the pages and familiarise yourself with the layout, have a think about what you would like to see included on the site and what you may be able to contribute, many hands make light work!
And please feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts! Stay tuned for more news and developments to the site!
Please add your email to the 'follow by email' section to the right of this post. This will deliver all future posts to your inbox so you don't miss a thing!
For those interested here is a copy of the presentation on ICT from last week.
